Ntly

Privacy policy

Ntly is available for iPhone, iPad, Android and the web. The apps store encrypted notes locally and offer optional manual backups. Mobile features described below apply to those apps; direct iCloud Drive and biometric unlock are not available in the web app.

Notes and settings

Note text, formatting, checklists, labels, colors and settings are stored in the app’s local database on iPhone, iPad and Android, or in your browser’s local storage database on the web. Search and editing happen on your device. Ntly does not upload your notes to l2ita.

Ntly does not sell your notes, show advertising or use your notes to train AI models. We do not operate an analytics service to measure how you write or browse notes. Optional third-party connections have their own data practices, described below.

Sharing, exports and external links

When you choose to share or export, Ntly gives the selected content to your device’s share sheet or downloads a file in your browser. The destination you choose can receive that content under its own privacy practices. Encrypted .ntly backups protect your notes and attachments. Shared text and attachments, and JSON files exported by older versions, are readable by their recipients; store them somewhere you trust.

Opening a link in a note, the privacy policy or the support page sends you to another website or app. That service can receive the usual connection information, such as your IP address. Opening an email link uses your chosen email app; nothing is sent until you send the message.

Website delivery

The Ntly web app and l2ita website are delivered using Cloudflare infrastructure. Hosting and security services process technical request information, such as IP addresses and browser information, and may set security cookies to protect against automated abuse. The Ntly website has no server endpoint for storing note content.

Browser storage remembers your notes and preferences. The publisher website remembers your appearance preference. These support the site and the features you choose, not advertising.

Storage, retention and deletion

Local notes remain until you remove them or the operating system or browser removes app data. Moving a note to Recently deleted keeps it available for restoration; permanent deletion or emptying Recently deleted removes it from Ntly’s active database. Copies you exported, shared or included in operating-system backups must be managed separately.

Ntly encrypts its saved notes and attachments, but readable content is available while the app is unlocked. Ntly does not automatically back up or sync your notes. Your device’s backup service may include app data depending on its settings. Clearing browser data, private browsing or uninstalling the app can cause data loss.

Encryption, recovery and optional connections

Ntly protects local notes, preferences and image/file attachments. Your password or a separately saved 12-word recovery phrase unlocks them. Search and editing happen on your device. We do not receive your password, recovery phrase, notes or a recovery copy. If you lose both unlock methods, we cannot recover your encrypted data.

Optional Face ID, Touch ID or supported Android fingerprint authentication uses your device’s authentication system to unlock a protected local key. Ntly does not receive your biometric images or templates. Enabling this option requires your Ntly password. The app hides its content when you leave and locks after the delay you choose in Settings; closing the app ends the unlocked session.

Adding a photo or file gives Ntly only the items you select in the system picker. Ntly does not request access to your entire photo library, contacts, microphone or location. Attachments may contain information such as photo metadata; sharing the original file also shares that information.

Encrypted .ntly backups include notes and binary attachment files. Restore validates the backup before saving and offers explicit duplicate choices. Legacy JSON imports are no longer supported; older JSON exports remain readable outside Ntly and must be managed separately. Sharing text or an attachment deliberately gives readable content to your selected destination; temporary app-owned copies are cleaned up after use or on the next opening after an interruption.

Optional Google Drive backups are saved manually. Google authorization requests access only to Ntly’s private application-data folder. Ntly does not request your Google profile or read your Google name or email address. The iPhone and iPad apps use Ntly’s iCloud Drive container for their optional direct connection. Providers receive encrypted backups, file metadata and the technical/account information needed to operate their services, under their own privacy practices. l2ita does not receive the backups. There is no automatic synchronization.

On iPhone, iPad and the web, Google authorization opens a Google sign-in page; Android uses Google’s account authorization interface. Google manages your sign-in and account permissions under its privacy policy. You can use Ntly and save a backup file without connecting Google Drive.

Ntly uses Google data only to connect to your chosen account and save, list or restore your backups. Ntly does not use it for advertising or model training. Its use and transfer of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

Ntly keeps the temporary Google access credential in memory for the active backup connection. It does not save Google profile information or authorization credentials in its notes database or backups, or send them to l2ita. Disconnecting Drive, closing the backup screen or locking Ntly ends that connection. Google may remember your sign-in or earlier permission in your browser or Google account; disconnecting Ntly does not sign you out of Google or withdraw that permission.

For iCloud, Ntly does not read your Apple Account name or email address. It holds a temporary fingerprint of the account token to detect account changes during a backup. Apple manages your iCloud account and storage.

Disconnecting a provider or deleting a local note does not delete backup versions in that provider. Manage those copies separately. You can also withdraw Google access through your Google Account settings. The web app caches application assets for offline startup without caching cloud API responses. Android’s automatic app backup is disabled; device backups and browser storage behavior otherwise depend on the operating system or browser.

Optional connection to Ghost

Ghost is a separate l2ita app in development. The iPhone and iPad apps include code for an optional connection, but it is not available to public users while Ghost is unreleased. Ntly works independently, and connecting to Ghost is not required to use your notes.

The connection uses an Apple App Group on the same device to share saved, active note titles and text. It requires a request from Ghost and your approval in Ntly. Its control stays hidden when Ghost is not installed, unless an existing connection needs to be turned off. Archived notes, Recently deleted, photos, files, your Ntly password and recovery phrase are excluded. The shared copy is encrypted for Ghost; this connection does not upload your notes or use them to train a model.

Locking Ntly does not withdraw a copy already approved for Ghost. Turn off Share notes with Ghost in Ntly Settings, or disconnect Ntly in Ghost, to withdraw the connection. Ghost’s own saved results must be managed in Ghost. We will update this policy and the in-app choices before making the connection publicly available.
